Sufiyan Rang Season 5 by Ali Zaidi: Artist in India in association with Prayag India presents Sufiana Rang Season 5 – Celebration of Lohri In Sufi Style. Artists Like Satinder Sartaaj, Kanwer Grewal, Sabri Brothers ( Fareed & Ameen Sabri Jaipur), Sabri Sufi Brothers (Ajmer) and Sufi Hayat Brothers performing live at Sufiana Rang Season 5. Its a three days long festival.

It is said that Sufi music is music that connects with the heart. It is the music of submission and surrender that bonds human to God and transcends all religious boundaries. Event Conceptualized By Ali Zaidi.

The music of Anatma is solely based on spot exchange of creativity within the artistes, each reflecting their very personal choice of expressions connoted from their diversified musical upbringings, knowledge and aesthetics, thereby creating a unified sound by respecting each others traditions and languages which often takes the listeners through a journey of trance and oneness.

The Sufi Route 2019

Passionate and ecstatic, spiritual and entrancing, Sufi music acts as a uniquely valuable bridge between East and West reflecting the most accessible, liberal and pluralistic aspects of the undying love for God.

The Sufi Route takes you on a journey from the traditional dervish and qawwali forms to explore the modern innovators inspired by the spirit of Sufism.

 Accompanied by guest instrumentalists, this will be the closing showcase of artist Bhrigu Sahni’s  tour of North India.
Inspired by spontaneous improvisation and staying in the present moment, the music is highly evocative.

Paired with visuals and light design, the setting aims to draw the listener into an immersive listening environment.

On March 2 & 3 over a hundred artists, writers and poets will gather at the Red Fort, Delhi, on multiple stages at the historic 15 August Park  to speak of democracy, togetherness and of an India that belongs to all its citizens. They will speak through the language of music, theatre, poetry, films and performances. Similar events are being organized by artists in other cities and towns including Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Chennai, Chandigarh, Dharwad, Pune and Patna.

Join us as we celebrate the culture of love, togetherness and the rejection of hatred. A large number of artists including Shubha Mudgal, Rabbi Shergill, Astad Deboo, Aditi Mangaldas, Jasbir Jassi, Maya Rao, Madan Gopal Singh, Dhruv Sangari, Surjit Nongmeikapam Bon, Sheetal Sathe, Harpreet, Askari Naqvi, Sonam Kalra, Inder Salim, Delhi Sultanate + Begum X, Azadi Records, Vedanth Bharadwaj,  Prabh Deep, Sanjay Rajoura, Ahmer, Seedhe Maut, Swadesi, Dopeadelics, Daniel Langthasa – Mr. India, Rasika Agashe, Lokesh Jain,  JANAM, Fouzia Dastango, Syed Sahil Agha, Patna Choir  are performing at the two day event. Why should Artists Unite ? This is a time when cultural and social life in India is being torn asunder by a toxic cocktail of propaganda, violence, censorship and distorted histories. The right to life, the right to love, food choices, language and histories, cultural expression, all are under assault by a politics of hate which is at war with the people of India and their diverse cultures.

As artists and cultural practitioners we re-dedicate ourselves at this critical moment to defend a culture that speaks of love, equality and solidarity. We will fight hate with love. We will counter violence with peace. Through our images, speech, words, music and bodies we will resist the cultural destruction of India.
Artists and writers are witness to and participants in the evolution of a culture that acquires its strength from diverse influences that together transform into the promise of Indian democracy, a promise that finds its echo in the Indian constitution. Democracy is not a majoritarian project to identify enemies and enforce uniformity of language, behaviour and culture. Democracy is the celebration of a collective will for peace, of living together with dignity and equality.

ABOUT ARTISTS

The Mohan Brothers, Lakshay Mohan & Aayush Mohan, are reviving the lost art of playing the duet of Sitar & Sarod. Pioneered by Ravi Shankar and Ali Akbar Khan in early 50s, a long standing Sitar & Sarod duet is now a rarity in the world of Indian classical music. They are the first Indian musicians to be invited to perform at the Grammy Museum, Los Angeles. They were nominated for the Global Indian Music Academy Awards in 2016.

As quoted by the Times of India on their performance at Sawai Gandharv, the biggest classical music festival of India, “The duo flirted with their supreme talent and young age to give a double layered performance. The lyrical beauty was out of the top drawer. Showing immense craftsmanship, they won the hearts of the weekend audience.” The flagship Indian Government TV channel ‘DD National’ recently telecast a special talk show on how the Mohan Brothers, who do not belong to a traditional classical musicians’ family, have come to be so popular across all music loving audience at a young age.

For every duet concert, Mohan Brothers choose a Raga (melody) and while developing the melody they experiment with new phrases and carve out an intricate rendition full of musical dialogues which are improvised spontaneously on the stage. A Mohan Brothers’ recital is full of vibrant musical sounds woven together through their innovative style of making music.
