Evening of Bharatnatyam with Aditi Jaitly Jadeja
Event Description : DANCE : Salaam Baalak trust presents an evening of Bharatnatyam with Aditi Jaitly Jadeja, Disciple of Leela Samson.
Rhythmic harmony, traditional vocals and the beautiful narratives in Bharatnatyam, Salaam Baalak Trust presents a mesmerising fundraiser with Bharatnatyam recital by Aditi Jaitly Jadeja at Stein Auditorium, India habitat Centre on 25th April 2019 at 7.00pm. Known for their work in helping street children for the past 30 years, Salaam Baalak trust has been instrumental in providing basic facilities to the children who live on the harsh streets of Delhi/NCR or who find themselves abandoned there. With a plethora of such fundraisers, the organisation has been able to help these marginalised kids realise their dream of a better life and a hope for a secure future. This event is one more such endeavor to further this cause and bring joy to those who often find themselves lost in this vast city of mankind.
Bharatnatyam has been revered as a performance art that enraptured the audience with its musical storytelling. Adding to the graceful movements of Aditi Jaitly Jadeja will be Sudha Raghuraman – a solo Carnatic Vocalist, G.Raghuraman, Flautist – an ‘A’ Graded artist of All India Radio and M V Chandershekar, PERCUSSIONIST – ranked amongst the finest percussionists of his generation.
The evening will highlight the coming together of diverse instruments.
Critically acclaimed for her craft, Aditi began studying Bharatanatyam at the age of seven under Leela Samson, and performed her arangetram in 1989. From 1990 onwards she began travelling for performances across India and abroad. In 1996 Aditi spent a year in the UK, working with the Shobana Jeya Singh Dance Company. During her stint there, she was exposed to different dance and martial art styles such as ballet, western contemporary dance, kalaripayattu, mayurbhanjchau and tai chi. Aditi toured extensively with the company, both in the UK and abroad and has been part of her guru’s dance company, the Spanda Dance Company, since its inception in 1995. Having performed all over India, the United States , Singapore, and the Far East she is now a managing Trustee of the Spanda Trust and has also been teaching dance for several years.
Since it’s inception, Salaam Baalak Trust has been a constant source of helping underprivileged children realize their rights and feel safe in this world. The trust has toiled tirelessly and garnered immense goodwill allowing it to support over 90,000 children in need. Today the trust has 12 contact points, 7 shelter homes. 12000 of these children go to regular schools and 18000 have been reunited with their families. Many of these children are rescued by the Child line (a dedicated help line manned 24×7) staff upon getting a phone call or after surveys done in child labor intensive areas with the help of the police.
“With this event we hope to help generate awareness and funds to continue our work with children. As they say, ‘it takes a big heart to shape a little mind’. We call on the many big hearts in our world to join us on our onward journey…. says Tanya Alag – Head Resource Mobilization Culture and compassion, this fundraiser is the coming together of the best of both worlds!
