The craziest part? You can take any book from the ones on offer for free (but donations are definitely encouraged).

From Toni Morrison, Sartre, Vikram Seth to Danielle Steele, Jeffrey Archer and Malcolm Gladwell, the giveaway will have books for everyone’s tastes. TCLP will also have a table for bartering children’s books, so you can drop off a book and take one in its place.

Need more reasons to attend this fab event? The Great Book Giveaway will end with a rap performance by the members of TCLP on Sunday and a drum performance by the Sunshine Ensemble. So, clear up your calendar and dedicate your weekend to books.

Rajas Nawabs and Firangees, Treasures from French and Indian Archives

Event Description: ART: Rajas Nawabs & Firangees 1750-1850, Treasures from French & Indian Archives

ALLIANCE FRANCAISE DE DELHI and UNITED SERVICE OF INSTITUTION with the support  of NATIONAL MUSEUM present a unique exhibition: a French window onto a rich phase in Indian history. Through carefully curated artwork — including visual material that’s never before been seen in India — and accompanying text by historians and experts, the exhibition is centred around a series of stories: a journey through the lives of 12 Indian rulers and French-speaking officers serving under them during the 18th and the first decades of the 19th century. Sharing court life, some even ruling over vast jagirs, these officers commissioned, or sometimes themselves put together, collections of manuscripts and paintings. Today, many of these priceless treasures are to be found in Paris, in the Bibliotheque Nationale de France (BNF), and are displayed for the first time in India. The high-resolution pictures allow the general public a rare access to a selection from these unique albums, normally restricted to a handful of accredited researchers.
