Delhi-the Seductress (a heritage walk)

The Mehrauli Archaeological Park, lying adjacent to the Qutub Minar complex, offers a rich sense of continuous history, from remains of Lal Kot built by the Rajputs in the early 11th century to Metcalfe’s constructions over the Mughal and Sultanate period monuments in the 19th century.

During the walking trail, our participants will get to meet Dilli! She will charm the audience with her stories, her poetry and with her Ada. She will make you climb up the beautiful 17th-century Dilkhusha, a tomb constructed for Mughal noble Quli Khan. You will also explore the depths of the 16th-century stepwell called Rajon ki bauli and experience the tranquility of the famous Jamali Kamali mosque. The walk will end with eternal love stories of the Piri Muridi tradition of Sufis.

The walk begins at 8.45 am at Qutub Minar ticket counter.

HOW TO REACH

This series represents a transcendence of our perceived reality, a freedom from our self inflicted shackles. Given any circumstance, our minds can wander, roam the earth, venture into untraversed realms and even dance with the Gods. These works in mixed media on paper have a predominance of pen and ink. The pen allows me a sense of control whereas the free flowing nature of the inks affords a life of its own, a balance of yin and yang. I am excited to invite you to view the series.

What’s Happening?

How many times have we watched those graceful dance movements on stage during a Bharatnatyam performance and wished we knew how to recreate them ourselves or at least understand the nuances behind the movement? Well, with this two-day workshop, we have a chance to pick up at least the basics of understanding what this ancient dance form is about.

This workshop is conducted by Nandini Ganesan, an artiste, choreographer and dancer associated with the Kalasadan Institute of Fine Arts here in Mumbai, where she teaches professionally. An award-winning dancer who has performed both nationally and internationally, Nandini’s sharing her years of training both at Kalasadan and with her guru, Smt. Chitra Visweswaran with us at this workshop.

Join her on day one of the workshop where she is poised to take us through the origins of the dance form, its relevance today and an interactive demonstration of postures and movements. Day two, you can expect a glimpse into the emotive aspect of dance and at the end of it, hopefully have a better understanding of what those beautiful hand movements and expressions really mean. Both days are interactive sessions and there’s a chance to ask questions during the Q&A session. For art lovers, dance enthusiasts and curious folk with a love for music and dance, we’re sure this is bound to be an enriching and engaging weekend!

Please note, the session with take place from 6pm – 7pm on Saturday and Sunday.
